At the turn of the last century, Boston was a hub of ideas, craft, and industry. The Boston book movement and much excellent and innovative printing resulted. Today, the city is still a hub of the book arts, and with the blossoming of the digital century we are now a society of printers. This exhibit sets out to make us mindful of our history and traditions, and to foster excellence.

In addition to displaying the books, broadsides, and ephemera that have distinguished Boston as a center of printing, the exhibit will hold demonstrations of typesetting, printing, binding, and related book arts. Video kiosks recreate the sights and sounds of print shops and show how printing has moved into the digital age.

Boston Ink is sponsored by the Society of Printers on its one hundredth anniversary and by the Boston Public Library.
